Mum's the word ....

Mother's Day is on Sunday May 8th this year, which is just three weekends away. I know - it snuck up on us too! We have been starting to see the beautiful blooms of the season - hyacinths, tulips and lavender just to name a few. This is an extra special Mother's Day for my family as it is my sister's first Mother's Day and the first Mother's Day for my Mum after a scary battle with cancer last year.

Mums do an amazing job and always put their children first. I think this quote explains my mother and probably many more ...

"A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie." - Tenneva Jordan

So to both the new mums and experienced mums alike - take your favourite glass of something bubbly, (and maybe a nice slice of pie), sit back and 'smell the roses' this Mother's Day.
I love you MUM!

Wedding bells are ringing ...

We're well and truely into the wedding season here in the shoppie shop! We've noticed a step away from the traditional structured bouquets to more loose and informal bouquets where different foliages and berries are a little feature. A focus on texture and pretty, short stemmed posies seem to be whats popular at the moment. Its always exciting to be a part of our bride's special day, but with this change in style we get to think outside the box a bit and get creative. We've seen the 'rustic' look becoming really popular with the use of hessian, bottles, jars, wood and rusty wire. I've started to have a think about flowers for my wedding in October, but with so many possiblities, and only one wedding - what to choose?!

I dont like cricket ....

I don't love crickets at the moment! They are taking over Adelaide in the thousands. Where on earth have they come from?

I went shopping down Rundle Street on Saturday and found out these crickets have taste, hiding in many of the boutiques we went to. The poor sales assistants were trying to scoop them up and put them outside, only to have the crickets jump straight back in.

Over the last week or so the Garden of Unearthly Delights has also had its fair share of these little critters running, flying and jumping around. We were a little hesitant to laugh at a comedy act on Saturday night incase we got some dessert that we didn't ask for. Our shop has also become a victim to the crickets. During the middle of the day you can hear their high pitched calls ringing out through the shop. They are hiding in all the nooks and crannies. So - who knows of any homemade remedies to oust these little buggers?!

Hello Autumn ...

Autumn has arrived and we are celebrating all things golden.

I love the different colours of the leaves on the ground. The bare branches of trees and the way the sunlight works its way through them. A change of season always brings a breath of fresh air and a hint of things to come. What do they say about a change being as good as a holiday?!

Welcome !!!

Hello and welcome!!!

We have created this page to let you know about all the new and exciting things that are coming up in store. We hope this page gives you an insight into our little Robyn May Flowers world and maybe a touch of inspiration to bring mother nature indoors.

Enjoy ...
